Forever Blue Exhibition (Infiniment
bleu) Fabrication of the furniture and display cases The exhibition Forever blue is presented at the moment at the Musée de la civilisation until August 22nd, 2004. The exhibition explores the colour blue through three universes: a submarine, earth and celestial garden. Blue is half of the occidental population’s favourite colour. Work consisted in providing professional services to build and assemble the exhibition’s components, as well as transporting and installing these components. We acted as a general contractor, which meant associate and coordinate various partners (subcontractors), prepare shop drawings, place material orders, establish and follow the production schedule, do follow-ups of the project with the subcontractors and customer, delivery and installation. The greatest challenge in the completion of the work was creating the various textures, finishes and visual effects that Daniel Castonguay’s concept required. Creating various three-dimensional spaces was also challenging because of their complexity. We used a great deal of imagination to succeed in completing this work at a reasonable cost, while meeting all of the expectations of the project manager
Fabrication of airtight display cases - museology The exhibition Diamonds was presented at the Musée de la civilisation between April 2001 and January 2002. The exhibition revealed pieces of a unimaginable wealth, from all over the world; jewels loaded with history once owned by popes, kings, queens, great diamond dealers, prestigious lenders! This exhibition was presented in New York, San Diego and Tokyo. Work consisted in providing professional services to build and assemble the exhibition’s components, as well as transporting and installing these components. Work consisted in providing professional services to build components for an interactive exhibit with handlings for a school aged clientele. We acted as a general contractor, which meant associate and coordinate various partners (subcontractors), prepare shop drawings, place material orders, establish deadlines in the shop, do follow-ups of the project with the subcontractors and customer, delivery and installation. Our biggest challenge with the completion of this exhibit was to build mechanical components for the handlings so that they were very sturdy since this didactic exhibit aimed at a young clientele.
Fabrication of the furniture and display cases - museology The exhibition Skin talks was presented at the Musée de la civilisation between November 2002 and August 2003. Skin is the most visible and significant human organ. It is the object of a lot of research and care: we wash, take care of, put makeup on, tattoo, pierce, show an hide it …

The exhibition Cowboy at Heart was presented at the Musée de la civilisation between April 2002 and March 2003. The exhibition invited guests to dive into the heart of the American continent and meet with its soul to discover what cowboy’s faces hid, along with the heroes and legends that shaped this universe.
Fabrication of the furniture and display cases - museology The exhibition Ado Express was presented at
the Musée de la civilisation between June and August 2001. The
exhibition focused on successful adolescences, to prevent distress in
young people. At the end of the visit, young people were better informed
on how to cope with depression and life’s difficulties. We acted as a general contractor, which meant associate and coordinate various subcontractors, prepare shop drawings, place orders, establish deadlines in the shop, do follow-ups of the project with the subcontractors and customer and install the components. The biggest challenge in the completion of this exhibit was to build components that would be installed inside a trailer, which would travel. All of the components needed to be very sturdy and built in a way to allow flexibility and support the movement of the trailer when it travelled.

The biggest challenge of this project was to integrate all of the necessary components, such as the light source, conduits for optical fibres and electric cables inside limited spaces while respecting Pierre Bouvier’s design. We also used flattened and tempered glass and a glueling method with ultraviolet rays in order to obtain perfect surfaces.
Fabrication of the furniture and display cases - museology The exhibition Destination Moon was presented at the Musée de la civilisation between June 1999 and September 2001. This exhibition answered many questions about this celestial body: where does it come from? What does it look like? Why do we only see its visible face? Are there other moons? What are the lunar phases? How much would you weight on the Moon? What is the gravity on Earth and on the Moon? Why is it necessary to use a space suit to go in space? What are the working tools of an astronaut? Will we colonize the Moon one day? Work consisted in providing professional services to build didactic and interactive components. We acted as a general contractor, which meant associate and coordinate various partners (subcontractors), prepare shop drawings, place material orders, establish deadlines in the shop, do follow-ups of the project with the subcontractors and customer, delivery and installation. The biggest challenge in the completion of this exhibit was to build the simplest and most efficient mechanisms. All of the components needed to be very sturdy and of easy maintenance.
Conception, design and fabrication of the furniture and display cases - museology In association with the chief curator and the designer of the Musée du Québec (Dyane Plourde), participate to the brainstormings for the conception of 3D elements and spatial installement (2 showrooms of ± 400m. ² each) by estimating the technical problems and the budgetary constraints that could arise. Realize illustrations and technical drawings, estimate the cost and establish
deadlines for all the dispaly elements while enhancing the artefacts.
Fabrication of the furniture and display cases - museology Work consisted in providing professional services to build and assemble the exhibition’s components, do the graphic production, as well as transporting and installing these components. We acted as a general contractor, which meant associate and coordinate various partners (subcontractors), prepare shop drawings, place material orders, establish deadlines in the shop, build display components (podia, display case bases, graphic panels, wardrobes, etc.), do follow-ups of the project with the subcontractors and customer, delivery and installation. The biggest challenge in the completion of this exhibit was certainly the fact that the building in which we would install everything was in construction at the same time as we proceeded to the fabrication. We also needed to follow the progress of the building site and do punctual statements to make sure that what we were making would fit directly on the spot. There was also the fact that the construction site was delivered with a three-week delay, which obliged us to store the exhibit elements and proceed to the installation more quickly. Fabrication of the furniture and display cases - museology Work consisted in providing professional services to build and assemble the exhibition elements as well as transportating and installating these elements. We acted as a general contractor, which meant associate and coordinate various partners (subcontractors), prepare shop drawings, place material orders, establish and follow production deadlines, do follow-ups of the project with the subcontractors and customer, delivery and installation. The greatest challenge in the completion of this exhibit was to design the modules, which were quite voluminous, in order to be easily assembled and handled by the staff of the museum. This exhibit also included a few interactive elements and handlings which needed to be integrated within our furniture and dismantled while being solid.

Fabrication of the furniture and display cases - museology The exhibition By What Right? was presented at the Musée de la civilisation between December 1998 and January 2000. The exhibit examined the present situation of human rights for the fiftieth anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The exhibition showed objects, testimonies and pictures that had guests reflecting on shoking and grave topics.
Fabrication of the furniture and display cases - museology Work consisted in providing professional services to produce the technical design and execution drawings, build and assemble the exhibit’s elements, as well as the transport and installation of these elements. Our role was to contribute to the stage of conception by suggesting solutions to the designer, realize execution drawings, associate and coordinate various partners (subcontractors), prepare shop drawings, place orders, establish deadlines, build display components (walls, podia, display case bases, graphic panels, etc.), coordinate the fabrication of museologic display cases, do follow-ups of the project with the subcontractors and customer, make boxes for the oversea transport of the display cases to Portugal, delivery and installation. The biggest challenge in the completion of the exhibit was to establish the costs of the construction from a 1/100 scale model without a definite design, which obliged us to work in narrow collaboration with the designers to propose design solutions that respected the established budget. We also did punctual and precise follow-ups of the costs during the realization of the project. There was also the fact that the museological display cases had to be sent in a container to Portugal. This obliged us to make sure that the products used for the fabrication of the display cases would resist humidity and that the packaging of these cases met the the international carriers’ criteria.
Fabrication of the furniture and display cases - museology Special construction of all of the exhibit elements due to the fact that the place of installation was a building on an island, very close to the water and not heated in the winter. All of the materials used were waterproof and offered great solidity. We created a modular construction allowing the whole kit to be packed and sent by sea, inside boxes. The packaging was made so that, in case of a lot of humidity and even some water, the whole kit would arrived at destination in good shape.
